Kannada superstar Vishnuvardhan’s funeral procession turned into ugly violence after thousands of fans who were not able to get a glimpse of the star, resorted to stone pelting.

Police then burst tear gas shells to bring the violent mob under control after it threatened to blow out of proportion.
“We had to resort to lathicharge after the mob tried to set some police vehicles on fire and threw a petrol bomb at the crowd from the top of the flyover,” a police official told.
Meanwhile Karnataka C M, B.S. Yeddiyurappa announced Rs.10 crore and 2 acres of land to build a memorial of Vishnuvardhan.
‘We have decided to give Rs.10 crore. Two acres of land at Abhimani Studios (in south Bangalore where the cremation was to take place in the evening) would also be given and the memorial will be built in consultation with Vishnuvardhan’s family,’ Yeddyurappa said.
State funeral was announced for the actor.
The capital city came to standstill as large numbers of his fans were still coming to pay him last respect.
