Aila Cyclona With 100KMPH Hit Kolkata Port Many Dead

Cyclonic storm Aila with a wind speed of 100 kmph is only 50 km away from Kolkata and is likely to hit the city any time soon.

It ripped through Kolkata, North and South 24 Parganas, Howrah, Hooghly, Burdwan and East Midnapore districts at 110 kmph, killing at least 19 people and affected a population of 1.10 lakh.

The cyclone will have a force of 100-110 km in the sea, and fishermen have been asked not to venture into the seas. The Kolkata Port authorities have been asked to hoist danger signal number 10.
